Case Study:

Global food research organisation leverages Sourcing-as-a-Service to add procurement expertise, capacity and knowledge to their organisation.

Client

The client is a global partnership that unites international organizations engaged in research about food security. The client’s research aims to reduce rural poverty, increase food security, improve human health and nutrition, and sustainable management of natural resources.

The Challenge

Plug-in a professional and highly effective sourcing capability to support a core procurement function, and deliver a high service level to a fast growing organisation.

Approach

Following a challenging timetable, the service was specified to meet the typical sourcing requirements of the organisation based upon a profile of standard and non-standard sourcing requirements.

The service was set-up and integrated into the organisation using a Sharepoint-enabled client services portal, integrating immediately into the client’s existing IT architecture and providing a straightforward mechanism for stakeholders to communicate, track and collaborate on their requirements.

The service was configured with a number of support tools that can be accessed by the core procurement team to provide a standardised service and to embed procurement excellence; including an e-Auction tool and a contract database.

Following rapid deployment, the service was then communicated to end-users, delivering a key strategic objective of the central service in providing a high service level procurement service to the wider organisation.

Results

  • Immediately deployed professional sourcing support
  • Access to category expertise and advice
  • Flow of sourcing requirements delivered to stakeholders
  • Enhancement of existing procurement service
