Craft Brewer tackles supply chain sustainability with a Sustainable Impact Assessment


JUBEL brew a selection of (extremely delicious) fruit infused craft beers, inspired by the après ski favourite demi-pêche.

Having started trading in 2018, they have scaled at pace and you can now find their beer on the shelves of leading supermarkets and in the taps of pubs across the UK.

The Challenge

Sustainability is one of JUBEL’s core values and deeply rooted in their mission to, “protect the off-piste, leaving no tracks or trace for those coming after us.”

JUBEL recognised that their supply chain plays a critical role in the environmental and social sustainability of their product. They wanted to work with their suppliers to align them to their mission. The challenge was knowing where to focus their time and resource to maximise impact.


Through a Sustainable Impact Assessment Procura helped JUBEL understand their supply chain sustainability impacts and identified the spend areas that represented the greatest opportunity (and risk) to their sustainability goals.

Step 1: Sustainable Objective Discovery
The Procura team held a workshop with key stakeholders to understand JUBEL’s sustainability objectives. Our consultants helped them articulate and structure their ambitions using the UN Sustainable Development goals as a framework. They challenged JUBEL to consider the full scope of their sustainability impacts and those of their suppliers.

Step 2: Supply Base Sustainability Spend Analysis
To gain transparency of supplier spend Procura grouped JUBEL’s suppliers into market focused procurement categories and visualised this data through our ProIntell Spend Analytics BI dashboards.

Step 3: Category Dashboards and Prioritisation Heatmapping
In another collaborative workshop the project team assessed the impact of spend categories against each sustainability objective and mapped this on a matrix:

This heat map enabled JUBEL to identify the spend areas of greatest risk and opportunity for sustainable procurement activities.

Step 4: Key Category Dashboards
For the key focus areas, Procura took a deep dive into the current situation, sustainability impacts, market insights and recommendations

Step 5: Delivery Roadmap
Using the heat mapping and our sustainability insights the Procura team defined an implementation plan with a clear, actionable roadmap for JUBEL to begin their Sustainable Procurement journey.
